A Conscience?

"The heart has its reason which reason does not know"
-Pascal, Pensees, 1670

It's weird, isn't it? Some people can know one thing and believe in something else. For instance the death penalty. Reason might be saying to kill a convict, but what does one's heart say? I have no idea. I honestly can't say what I would do, for one reason is because I don't think that anyone deserves death, on the other hand, someone would probably have to do something horribly evil to be put to death in the first place, but do two wrongs make a right?

As you grow older

"When I was fifteen, I learned quite a bit. By the time i was 25, I learned that everything I knew when I was fifteen was crap. When i turned 35, everything I learned till 25 was crap, When i turned 45, i found out that everything I learned since I was 15 was crap" -DNA

This country has a voting age of 18, does that really make sense? Many laws affect teenagers a lot, and they practically have no say within the government. Isn't this taxation without representation? I personally say that the voting limit be lowered.

Some people say that this would be a very bad thing because they teenagers would just vote for whoever they were told to, or vote just to screw up an election, but there are plenty of adults that do that. Also, the most likely teenagers that are likely to vote are going to be the people that are more politically inclined anyway. So in the end, what really is the problem? Why shouldn't we allow high schoolers to vote?

Woot, I'm back, hopefully =)

After a long time of not posting, I'm finally back =)
